Details

This exceptional specimen features a double-terminated metallic black hematite crystal adorned with intricate sagenite inclusions, sourced from the mineral-rich regions of Pakistan. The hematite boasts a lustrous, mirror-like surface that reflects light in striking metallic tones, emphasizing its natural beauty. The sagenite inclusions, consisting of fine, hair-like rutile needles, are artistically arranged in radiant patterns, adding an intricate texture and a golden contrast against the dark hematite. The double termination enhances its aesthetic appeal and is a testament to its well-formed, undisturbed crystal growth. This combination of hematite's robust metallic sheen and the sagenite's delicate inclusions makes the piece a collector's treasure and a fine example of natural artistry.

Description:

The name Hematite comes from a Greek word meaning Blood which is derived from the fact that, when cut, the saw coolant becomes colored red. Hematite is one of the most common minerals. The color of most red and brown rocks, such as sandstone, is caused by small amounts of Hematite.

It is also responsible for the red color of many minerals. Hematite can be in reddish-brown, dark silvery-grey scaled masses, ocherous masses, silvery-grey crystals, and dark-grey masses. Formerly used as mourning jewelry, but today mainly for rings and necklaces. It takes a very high polish.
