Details

This stunning specimen features a vibrant green fluorite crystal as the focal point, beautifully nestled on a bed of pristine quartz. The transparent, cubic structure of the green fluorite exhibits a mesmerizing clarity, with subtle hints of internal zoning that catch the light in different angles. The quartz matrix, composed of numerous clear and milky crystals, serves as a dazzling backdrop, enhancing the rich, green hues of the fluorite. Adding contrast, scattered black schorl tourmaline rods emerge from the quartz, their dark, needle-like formations providing an eye-catching visual interplay between the crystal textures and colors. Sourced from the renowned mines of Pakistan, this combination of fluorite, quartz, and schorl creates a harmonious balance of color, shape, and energy, making it a captivating and highly sought-after mineral specimen for collectors and crystal enthusiasts alike.

Description:

The word Fluorite derives from the Latin 'fluo' meaning 'to flow' because the mineral is used as a flux in iron smelting. Fluorites from certain localities exhibit very strong fluorescence, due to impurities in the crystal. In 1852 this phenomenon of fluorescence was named after fluorite. Fluorite has a broad spectrum of colors, which depends on impurities, radiation exposure, and the size of the color centers. The color distribution is often zonal or spotty.

Fluorite can be used in jewelry sometimes, cut into beads. But because of its low hardness, it is not widely used as a semiprecious stone. It is found in many parts of the world, including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Pakistan, England, Norway, Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.
