Pyrite is immensely popular among the collectors for it's ability to create wonderfully perfect, geometric forms and for its attractive metallic luster. While it is relatively abundant, most pyrite are granular or exists as small and somewhat amorphous crystals. There are just handful of localities that produced distinctly formed crystals and differentiate for there size & impeccable crystal expression. The pyrite from Navajun, Spain is arguably one of the most distinctive & famous for its exceptionally acute cubic forms. This particular specimen is an incredible example from such locality, featuring single, good sizeable pyrite crystal that is absolutely pristine. It's faces are remarkably smooth with gorgeous sharp edges. The crystal sits partially embedded in a well balanced matrix of white marl, at an orientation that is optimal for savoring its flawless form. The earthy, matte texture of the marl provides a striking contrast for the pyrite's marked precision, punctuating its metallic golden color and highl capacity for the luster.
